Stupid? Possibly. The few skunks that have ended up in my trap usually aren't in any hurry to leave. I had one where I opened the back door and told him to go home. He stuck his head out and looked around then turned and went back in, curled up and took a damn nap...

Make sure they do this is in a small closet preferably without ventilation since you want everything to stay as concentrated as possible to get the highest yield...
