Being able to "Red Green" something is a skill in and of itself. Does it move? Yes. Should it? No. Duct tape! Does it move? No. Should it? Yes. WD-40! I love the simplicity of old tech. I mean, look at how clean this thing is and easy to diagnose any issue, and all the room needed to work on it...

I like that term!!  Instead of jimmy-rig or McGyvering something, I'm gonna "Red-Green" it!!  The bonus is I seriously doubt there will be a lot of people that would even understand the term, and those that do would think it's most excellent...

A few weeks ago there were a bunch of youtube videos with cast members sending out their birthday wishes to "Red" - turning 80.

I'm a man, but I can change if I have to... I guess.

Remember, if the women don't find ya handsome, they should at least find you handy...

Oooh I'm going to need to look for those.  Hitting 80 isn't a small feat.  Then again, with our small group and history, I'm surprised most of us are still here today to talk about it.  There have been far too many occasions when something could have really gone wrong, really wrong...

If it aint broke, you're not trying hard enough...

Lately, it seems like some conversations I've been having with people usually end up with stories about our youth and needing more than two hands to count the number of times we shouldn't be here.

The Amtrak train incident, the various football games, the rope swing (and tree and cliff), the Conrail train incident, the various ski trips, the black-out partying, the various sledding incidents, the amok trips (we don't need no stink'n wheels), riding in the back of Stile's truck and donuts in the corn field with bodies flying everywhere, Mt. Monadnock trips (stupid Pepsi machine and free climbing and getting lost - but having wild blueberries to sustain us), and much more too...

Remember, I'm pulling for you. We're all in this together...

I do remember one incident at the rope swing with a dog that kept trying to grab the rope, whether there was someone on it or not.  I happened to be on it and instead of getting the rope, he got the inside/back of my thigh.  I can only imagine how much different life would have been if he was about four inches away from that spot that he did get.

It would have probably been more painful than death...

I imagine you wouldn't feel a thing after the first initial second because you would have blacked out due to the pain. Life would be a lot different. You'd probably have to change your name to Jane or something...

Sorry for the delay, life got away from me for a bit...  I took some PTO and have been down at the beach working on another project...

Sweet. At first glance I thought you bought a motel, then you said the beach and recalled that you guys build houses on stilts near the water. I tried my google geo-finder skills (or lack thereof) to find it, but I don't think I was ever even close. So, here's one where I thought it could have been...

Funny, we did look at picking up an apartment complex a few years ago but the value and return on investment was not right for that one.  If you are still wanting to geo-find the house, here's the current Google street view...

Well, I tried my best. I only came up with two areas where it could be and traversed the streets with no luck. I thought for sure I had it. Oh well. But please tell me that's a slide next to the stairs...

If you're interested, it's 684 Sandy Bluff Dr in Supply NC, it's close to the lot that we have that's much closer to the beach.  The plan is to rent this as an Air BnB for a little while until everything is all set and ready to start building on the lot, then be able to stay there as needed during the build.  Eventually it'll get sold, but depending on whether it makes money for the short while that it's rented early, it may stay in inventory for a while before it goes away.

Holy shit! That was one of the two I was searching through. I went back to that area over 3 times looking. I can't believe I was right there and zoomed past it. Missed it by = that much. The only reason I was focusing on that area is because there's only a handful of roads that have a southwest -> northeast orientation. The other spot I was looking in was a smaller area but the houses were too close to the road. Dang it. And of course there were other roads that held that orientation, but they were in more upscale and cookie-cutter neighborhoods. Here's how close I got...

Holy shit, how the eff did you miss it?  You got the neighbors next door that are really nice, and the jerks next to them.  I don't know any others on this side of the street, but the folks in two of the houses across the street are all really nice too.  And also directly in back of us, and most of them are full time residents and keeping an eye on the place while we're not there.  But that was some sweet sleuthing starting with streets with that orientation.  Did you do a search based on that?  Or how did you even narrow down to that part of NC?

Alright, so my first step was looking up "Salty-Bins". Seeing how they're a local company, I checked out their delivery area so that gave me the area to search in. Then you saying you're by the beach and the house on stilts, I knew I didn't need to go too far inland. Looking at the trees and greenery, you weren't at the shore since the trees around there are more shrub like and tall ones are few and far in between. So that narrowed my search to a relatively small strip. I did try doing a "recently sold" property search, but I screwed up on the filters as I wasn't aware there was a "manufactured" option and it's not under the category of "house". I probably would have found it real quick that way. After that I noticed the compass on your last picture and luckily I could use the orientation of the street. Even more lucky that there's not a lot of roads built in that orientation. Once I got to your neighborhood, I was like, oh, this has to be it. But wasn't finding it. Then I would go back to that other area (forgot which one it was now), and like, it could be, but the properties don't seem as big. And then going back to your neighborhood. I spent at least a good 90 minutes on this challenge. It was fun...
