It's definitely cool that they're still around. It's pretty cool to see the homebrew community still creating decent work for the 8-bit as well. I checked out the Bubble Bobble port and it looks amazing...
Wow, I am going to need to dig in and check out some of these. It looks like there are some really decent releases still getting added to the library. Oh, and today, I learned that there was a snowball fight released for the ST too...

And today I downloaded it and I think the 8-bit version is better. Although, when you "kill" your opponent he runs off the screen calling for his mom. And while I was downloading that, I had to get another classic. No way this would see the light of day in today's world...
For such a simple concept, and game, snowball fight on the 8-bit was a ton of fun. Now imagine what they could have done if they added it as a plugin to a BBS like Express Pro. You ran the game locally then connected to a BBS that had the game plugin running. From there you could snowball fight against one or more others from the comfort of your basement...

Oh man, that would have been an awesome idea. The loser gets kicked off and loses all their time for the rest of the day. The winner gains extra minutes. I almost forgot I had daily time limits for how long you could use the BBS per day...
What happens when your BBS is the only one worth dialing in to? So the bony finger of death tells you to shut off the computer and go outside and play. But all of your friends are still on the BBS...

You would have to be very cognizant of each personality to pull off an evil twin. I learned a lot about the behavior of people with the BBS. Most are very predictable since it's quite common for everyone to have a certain routine. When someone did try the multiple users, they would always log in with one right after the other and do the same routine. There's been times when they would write a post and sign it as their other account user name, then go back in and edit to put remove/change that. Oh look, I'm not going to delete you, I'm just going to give you 1 minute max every day before auto logoff. I think that's more insulting...
I certainly don't get out as much anymore - and when I do I try to make sure it's an area with as little as people as possible. So I mostly only get to make fun on this goober...
