RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 04-30-2024

In some ways I guess it's a good thing though.  Even though SCSI is a standard, I think the connectors are what held it back and why it's not used anymore.  MIDI just made sense...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 05-01-2024

I think it'd be hysterical if SCSI stayed prevalent. I got my little SSD drive and the connector it plugs into is twice its size...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 05-01-2024

Assuming performance and architecture kept up with technology, SCSI could have stayed as a real contender...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 05-02-2024

One of these days I'm going to go through my entire 8-bit library on disk and look for my BBS (too bad the hard drive is long gone - that would have been some serious nostalgia). I know I made backups of it and I'm sure I have your code somewhere...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 05-02-2024

oooh, that sounds like something fun to do on a rainy weekend!   Hmmm, I wonder what's on this disc...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 05-02-2024

It's supposed to be rainy this Sunday - too bad I have a bunch of other projects that need to be worked on. But Saturday we're going to a show: Bugs Bunny at the Symphony in Springfield...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 05-03-2024

Maybe it needs to be like that one Wednesday when you got a call early morning waking you up and the guy on the other end of the phone said that Stratton just got eight inches of fresh powder and he was calling in sick...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 05-04-2024

Well, our company introduced an additional personal floating holiday this year so maybe I'll just have to do something like that. But holy shit, Stratton lift tickets this season were $200 for peak days and $167 for non-peak days. Can you imagine if weekends are the only time you can go and spending $200 on a lift ticket to waste about 4 hours standing in line...?

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 05-06-2024

Maybe that's one of the silver linings that I need to consider.  I stopped skiing when it wasn't as much fun down here and now if I were to consider spending $200 for a lift ticket to spend just half of a day just trying to remember isn't really a worthwhile proposition anymore...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 05-06-2024

That's Stratton and a few other of the re-branded as "posh" resorts with tickets in that range. Jay Peak was $109 non-weekend but they were sending me deals all season for around $85. And for $68 you can re-learn your skill on the lower half of the mountain. I think it'd be a hoot to see ya back on skis...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 05-07-2024

Well, there would be no "half way" option in my world.  If I go to Jay, I will be going to the top.  At this point I wouldn't be warming up on a diamond anymore, but you can be damned sure I'm not going to puss out on circles and squares from half-way up...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 05-08-2024

Once a Suicide Skier - always a Suicide Skier...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 05-08-2024

That's kind of one of the primary reasons I really slowed down once I moved down here.  Besides the season being a lot shorter, just getting to the closest place that has lifts is a few hours away and there just weren't many here that could keep up with me.  The first time I went, a bunch of guys from the plant all went along as well.  Matt (the plant jock) was a great skier, he said he'll have no problem keeping up.  That wasn't entirely accurate...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 05-09-2024

That was kind of like the time we went to Sugarbush and we had that guy with us talking all sorts of smack about how great a skier he was. [Ron Howard narrating] He wasn't.

Who was that dude anyway? I only remember the drive up and seeing him flounder on the trail. I don't remember the drive back with him though, did we just abandon him on the mountain...?

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 05-13-2024

Was that Lindsey?  I don't remember him coming back either, I wonder if he fell off the side of the mountain and no one missed him...  I think he was the one that brought this cool lighter that he was bragging about, it was waterproof, wind proof, and could work in sub-zero temps.  Someone tossed it into a snow bank or something and it never worked after that.

Changing the subject, I got tired of the default ring tones in my phone so created a few new ones that you might find useful.  Now I need to figure out how to change the notification sounds...
