RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 01-08-2026 I am 100% with you on the Malt-O-Meal products, they are much better than the name brand and a lot closer to what my memory tells me is what I had as a kid. Except the Fruity Dino Bites, I think the Malt-O-Meal version is even sweeter and fruitier than the original (and better)... I don't like to think of Malt-O-Meal as a generic version, it's really like a legit version and the Great Value brand is closer to generic. Malt-O-Meal has too much of a quality to really consider it generic... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 01-09-2026 I would have to agree with you 100% on that assessment. We shop at Aldi's and their Millville brand cereals are a weird combination of generic and better than brand name, so it's a try it first and hope for the best. There's some hits and some abysmal failures. Two hits are their Lucky Charms -> Marshmallows & Stars and the Sugar Smacks -> Honey Wheat Puffs. The Honey Wheat Puffs... let's put it this way, your first pee after eating those and you'll know what you had for breakfast... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 01-09-2026 Ooooh, now I need to try the Aldi cereals. It's been a long long time since I've had cereal, but I am on this mission now and will accept the responsibility. Especially if the end result is strange bodily results. Is it a Vitamin B or beet reaction that just changes the color? Or are we talking all out asparagus nuclear fallout changes? (Pic related link) RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 01-09-2026 Oh, it's definitely like the asparagus experience. It's like, hmm.. sugar smacks and it creates that conflicting emotion where you're like that smells good and I shouldn't have said that... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 01-13-2026 Ok, I chuckled. How many times have I done something unwittingly stupid, then been ok with it, until I thought a little more about what I had done. At least you didn't say that smells good out loud for someone else to comment on... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 01-14-2026 Yeah, working from home has the one of the best benefits that even if I do say something out loud, no one is going to hear it. Also, I never have to share the bathroom with another person and I can make as much noise (if you know what I mean) as I want... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 01-14-2026 Work from home most definitely has its perks. Like the noise thing, and wearing whatever the hell you want to. That t-shirt that is all offensive? Wear it... Wanna take a nap in the middle of the afternoon, take that nap... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 01-14-2026 Since working from home, I haven't worn long pants. In fact I even got myself a cartoon wardrobe. I have a shirt and shorts that are very comfortable, so I bought 5 of each of them. Now I don't even have to think of what I'm going to wear since it's the same thing every day. It just makes life super easy... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 01-28-2026 Nawww, no shorts here. The house is cold enough that after a couple of hours sitting at my desk it starts to get chilly. But I am barefoot year 'round... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 01-28-2026 I do like my socks. It's usually in the summer time after I've gone for a run the socks get ditched after the shower. And you want cold, we got cold. Although, I did wear my snow pants while clearing the driveway when it was 8 degrees and snowing... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 01-29-2026 The difference is down here it's not so cold that it's ok to run outside for a few minutes without shoes on, and wearing socks they just wear out too quickly. I guess I could go put shoes on, but to do something like get the dogs, or take out the trash, it's easier to just go barefoot... Then again, it's not 8 degrees either... Right now (almost 2 PM) it's 36... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 01-30-2026 So far this winter has been a true winter. It's been at least two weeks since we've seen temps above freezing. Walking outside barefoot now would be a little rough. Oh, and we got snow too... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 02-02-2026 Ok, I didn't do the barefoot thing outside this past weekend, nor did I this morning. But it was a barefoot in the sunroom to let the dogs out. And that tile was freaking cold today. It was finally single digits, 9 degrees when I let them out... Oh, and yeah, we got some snow... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 02-03-2026 Hot damn! I had no idea you guys got slammed with snow. That's kinda awesome. I have not been keeping up with current events. Anytime I've tried, I find myself wishing there was another planet I could move to. The other day we woke up to -10 degrees. That's some booger freezing temps right there I tell ya... For the simplicity of analog devices, I agree with you there. My washer and dryer we bought right after getting married we still have and I've been repairing it as needed. It's 100% analog, not a single piece of electronics at all. In fact, the last thing I replaced was the pressure switch. While trying to track one of them down, I jerry rigged a light switch to use as the water tub fill shut off. It took a few days to track one down and I think I found the last on on this planet... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 02-03-2026 That sounds like the washer and dryer that's up at the cabin, no electronics! Everything in that thing is analog and I never really worry about it. The pump failed a couple of years ago and I was able to easily find a replacement and fix it. But your fix sounds closer to something inspired by Red Green... |
