RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 08-13-2025 I'm with you on that "pop" term. That and any food dish that's "deconstructed". Bitch, putting a glob of peanut butter in a fancy dish, the jelly in a stemless wine glass and cubed artisan bread on a serving platter isn't a deconstructed PB&J - it's you being a lazy ass and trying to pass yourself off as sophisticated. Now get back in the kitchen and make the damn sandwich the way it was meant to be. And cut it diagonally. I also want a cherry juice box and some cookies... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 08-14-2025 Yup on the deconstructed here too. Keeping with the "deconstructed" food topic, a wedge salad is the equivalent of a lazy chef. Seriously, you couldn't take the time to break that lettuce up and now it's "fancy." F-U.... But another word that gets under my skin is "bruh". Not even bro, and that one is bad enough... (but I did chuckle at the cut diagonally, juice box, and cookies comment) RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 08-16-2025 Holy hell, "bruh" is one of the worst. At least with "bro" you can put emphasis on it and carry it out and make it sound super happy. But "bruh" is so dull, lifeless, lacks any real emotion associated with it and it's on par with a grunt. I also never heard of a wedge salad before. Looked it up and wow, that's awful. Substitute the lettuce with some decent tortillas and you might have something worth eating... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 08-18-2025 Next annoying word: cringe. Not as bad as bruh, but still top of the list... When it comes to exotic, it's what I usually look for when eating out somewhere. Like you have Ted's in Manchester that serves Bison and that is damn tasty. I have always wanted to try kangaroo, it's on my list. But one of my favorite exotic meats is pretty taboo here in the US, but you can get it in Canada and Mexico, and most of Europe: horse. It's better than beef, and horse tartare needs to be on your bucket list if it's not there already... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 08-19-2025 Next annoying word: wifey. Bruh, that word is so cringe. Oh, horse is definitely on my list. I never thought of horse tartare though. A nice Korean style sounds tasty. For another "exotic" meat, of all the sketchy Chinese restaurants I've eaten in my life, I bet I had cat at least once... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 08-19-2025 Whatev.... (grrrr, so damn annoying.... ![]() Ooooh, I had to look up that term. I'm food adventurous but I dunno about that one. There is a 50% part of me that is of course curious, but the other 50% part of me is skeeved by the thought, and another 50% part that would say yeah depending on the source. Like did this guy sell his leg for this? Or was it acquired under some other means... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 08-20-2025 Anyone who uses "alpha" or "beta" to describe themselves or someone else... Ugh! Our scenario would have been like if your arm or leg was crushed and the only option was amputation. Would you ask the surgeon if you could keep it since you wanted to cook it up? Granted, there's a huge psychological barrier to bust through but in the end we both think we would go for it. With a nice spiral ham, I know your stance on peas, but forgot your stance on split pea soup. Because there's nothing like a homemade split pea soup made from the bone of spiral ham. And the chunks of potato and ham - it's just good stuff... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 08-21-2025 But Zup (and the rest of us) referring to him as Omega was ok... And as for that scenario, while it would be weird, I guess that would be acceptable. And if it were to happen to me, I know now that I can invite you and Megan over for dinner that evening... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 08-21-2025 We'll bring the pineapple or apple sauce - whichever would pair nicely with that. Tomatoes are one of those weird vegetables. I like them raw, as a smooth spaghetti sauce, ketchup, and salsa. But gazpacho, stewed, warm/hot whole tomatoes are kinda gross. But for me the worst is tomato soup. My introduction to it was in day care and it was just awful. The ladies taking care of us said that it's better with oyster crackers. After dumping half the box and ending up with a tomato-cracker paste it was still disgusting. The second time they served it, I wouldn't touch it. I would sooner starve. On the third attempt they gave up and realized I wasn't going to eat it no matter what. So what did they make me instead? A peanut butter, fluff and grape jelly sandwich. That was also my first introduction to the most perfect sandwich a kid could ever have. So while all the other kids were slurping that horrid vile bowl of ick, I was there with the sticky face and fingers and a sense of bliss as I enjoyed every last bite... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 08-22-2025 I thought fava beans and a glass of chianti were supposed to go with the leg of man.... And I'm 100% on board with nixing tomato soup, that stuff is vile, even when you get to have grilled cheese with it. No thank you. But the gazpacho is raw vegetables, it's like a tomato cucumber salsa with other veg that you want to add, like peppers, garlic, celery. And on a hot day, it's pretty damn near amazing... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 08-23-2025 [facepalm] Oh man, how'd I miss that one? All the pictures of gazpacho I've seen (or in movies) it always looked like cold tomato soup. If I'm going to have a mix of a bunch of cold vegetables, it's going to be prepared as a proper salad. Or better yet, a salad like this (if there's any less pixels in that video, it'd be radio)... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 08-26-2025 Holy crap, I haven't seen a Real Men of Genius commercial in years, thanks for that blast from the past. From when Budweiser had a real marketing department that knew who their target audience was... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 08-26-2025 I have probably every one of their commercials as an MP3 in my collection. I have them in my master playlist so every now and then one sneaks in and I always get a chuckle (apparently those who can't coach sit 30 rows back, shirtless, shouting obscenities)... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 08-27-2025 Yeah, I can certainly see where that would be funny. I didn't ever do much shuffling across my entire library, whenever I did that I would inevitably get something that I wasn't in the mood for at that time. Going from Pantera and King Diamond to Paul Simon or the Gypsy Kings is a bit of a jar to the senses... RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 08-28-2025 I've got a playlist with most of my music and I've had a few instances where it went from Slayer's South of Heaven to Enigma's Return To Innocence. It's not so much as jarring as it is amusing... |
