Oh yeah, I remember that one quite well. We blasted down Green Beret, hooked a left onto Upper Milk Run and pounded the bumps on that, then had a very quick breather on taxi (probably doing 50mph around the corner there) where we literally jumped into Bonaventure Glade and shouting at you to not let the trees grab your poles. Then skied directly onto the first chair coming in. That was an absolute blast. My legs were feeling it for sure...

Once there was an entire body feeling it when we went skiing on Saturday at Southington or Sundown, then night skiing all night at Powder Ridge, then went straight back to Southington or Sundown and skied that Sunday. Some crazy 30 hours of skiing or something like that...

I know we did a few back-to-back day and night ski sessions, but there was that one killer where we did Powder Ridge night skiing on Friday until 1:00 AM, crashed back at my place. Saturday morning headed out to Southington for almost the entire day. After dinner headed out to Ski Sundown for some night skiing. Crashed back at my place again and Sunday we went out for a day at Mt. Tom.
That year I think I had over 50 ski lift tickets collected...

Didn't we have more than 50 tickets, and that was counting the week pass as one ticket. I vaguely remember mentioning to someone at the end of the season that we went on average more than once per week of an entire year. So maybe I was counting the five days as part of that?

You just might be right. That might have also been the year we went to Okemo I think for some late spring skiing. They had music blaring on the trails and had to take the skis off 1/4 of the way down and do a little bit of mud traversing before getting back to some thin cover.
And of course I remember the woods policy. Enter and exit on an open trail. Skiing out of bounds could mean a long walk back.
Here's one where the wife got me a free day pass from the grocery store. Booked a night at the hotel and got my complimentary Jay Peak pint glass...

That's awesome! A day off from work and it was spent hurtling yourself off the side of a mountain with waxed boards strapped to your feet. There really aren't many ways to spend a day out of work better than that.
And until I read your post, I had forgotten about that day at Okemo with the music blaring on the mountain and the thin cover in places...

That was the time I brought my GPS with me because I was always curious about how fast I was skiing. Max speed that day was 46mph and I did 23.4 miles. It was a very chill day and hung out with a guy named Terrance from Canada when skiing down Timbuktu. I almost asked him if he has a friend Phillip (South Park reference). And he was funny. "I'm not slow, eh, I'm from Canada."
(you never have to worry about the blinking 12:00 on this guy...)

Ok, I remember you telling me about the GPS and I couldn't imagine that all those times we were hauling ass and really weren't going that fast. Except that one time you almost impaled that guy in the chest with your skis. I'm sure we were going a whole lot faster than 46...

Oh, we were certainly hauling ass on those times when we were hauling ass. I did a haul ass run on one of my trips to Jay. It was towards the end of the day and just felt like gun barreling it down a steep ass trail. I had the GPS with me that day as well. With the sun setting and the long shadows I didn't notice that the trail dipped a little connecting to another one. When you get that weightless feeling and look down and see your shadow about 50' away from you, you get that "oh crap" realization that this could go sideways real fast. While I was gliding down the trail it connected to another trail at a T-intersection and I'm still in the air. I was like, I need to land very soon because I know trees aren't soft. Landed and just went into the most aggressive, leaning, sliding stop as soon as possible. I stopped short of the edge of the intersecting trail with about 6' or 8' to spare before the woods. While on the chairlift trying to lower my heart rate I checked the GPS and it was 70mph. So, yeah, those haul ass days we were easily doing 50-55mph...

Speed is so relative. When I'm on the ATV out in the woods and barreling through the trails doing mach 3, I look at the speedo and it's only 25mph...

Relative can be applied to steepness of the trail too. You stand at the top and think this has got to be at least a 50° when in reality it's just 20°...

I remember riding that the first time. What a thrill. Hearing the coaster roar while waiting in line on the 3-story climb up the stairs. Finally getting strapped in and that first drop and then to do it all over again backwards. That was my favorite ride. A few years before it was dismantled, it wasn't as popular so there wasn't a line and the attendant asked if I wanted to ride again. Of course I said yes. It got to a point where he stopped asking if I wanted to get off. I think I was on that thing for at least half-hour when I had to wave him over to let him know I was done.
Now this ride gave me such anxiety watching it. When I had finally gotten the nerve to ride it I was a bit disappointed that the cages didn't spin around as much as I thought they would...
