That's awesome.  The last time I did any "real" camping was that SRC hike that we did with you, Frank, Randy, Ashish and I.  And how painful was that trying to keep Ashish going so he could eventually get to the campsite each night...

I was truly amazed that he made it as far as he did. I felt pretty bad for him since he had no idea what he was really getting himself into. And I managed to find a really nice shot from that hike too...

If you're rich, you can get your roadie to haul your shit up the mountain...  Otherwise, I would agree that paying someone $20 to get you to the top is worth it.

That was a great video. And that lone guy on the chairlift reminds me of the countless times riding up in silence on a windless day and just being so content on the lift. You can actually hear this picture...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 06-05-2025

The guys in Rush have a great sense of humor...

Your comment about riding up on a lift in silence brought back some amazing memories.  Even if you're sitting next to someone, and just sitting there in silence with nothing but the thump-thump-thump-thump as the chair rolls past those rollers.  Yup.  I think I heard that pic...

It was always the hush little squeak-squeak-squeak of the wheels that gave a sense of peace as though the rest of the world didn't matter...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 06-06-2025

Here's another quiet scene that gives a great sense of peace and tranquility, nothing else in the world to care.

(until that branch snags your pole....)

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 06-06-2025

On the opposite side of the spectrum, when driving for hours and finally seeing this, if I had a tail it'd be wagging all frenzy like. Oh man, I gotta pee now...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 06-09-2025

It fits in line with that time you, Zup, and I went skiing, Zup was driving and we were getting excited at the temperature gauge in the car that kept dropping a degree here and there as we were getting closer to the mountain...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 06-10-2025

As much as I hate Stratton now, that one Wednesday will always be a spectacular highlight. I outlined the trail where we got "first" tracks and the only sounds heard were the whispers of the wind and the light schuss of powder...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 06-10-2025

I hear ya.  But you know what... if a Stratton-level mountain were just 2.5 hours away, I would have paid $200 at least once or twice a year for the ability to ski something decent.  As it is, it's almost three hours to hit something that's about the same skill level as Powder Bump.  They do have one section on one trail that's about 50' long and maybe 20' vertical that is incredibly difficult because of the bodies scattered everywhere and you're just trying your best to dodge them...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 06-11-2025

That made me laugh. I can only picture the people there look like this...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 06-11-2025

Oh yeah, we have tall mountains.  Just not much snow...  And for the places that do make snow, the "regulars" have a distinct resemblance to your posted pic too...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 06-12-2025

That reminds of that one day we took your sister and a bunch of other people skiing for the first time and when we went to go check on them and noticed all these blue streaks in the snow and wondering what caused them. Then we saw her friend fall and the mystery was solved. There was a lot of laughing afterwards...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 06-13-2025

Yup, that was my friend Chris that wore the jeans and left those blue streaks in the snow.  And that reminds me of the time when you and I were up at Jay Peak (I think) and cruised down side by side with the ski patrol and eventually left them behind...
