I do remember the Indiana Jones game and enjoyed playing that game. I forgot how long it took me to figure it out, but it was definitely satisfying when you got to the end and was lifted up with the theme song playing...

Holy crap that brought back some memories. Not that I ever used one, but just knowing what it was and did. Now I am vaguely remembering a war dialer that I wrote? You wrote? that would get us lists of codes to use for long distance and print the valid ones on the printer. I ran mine during the night when everyone was sleeping, I think yours ran all day long...

I think you wrote the code and I modified it a bit. I had mine on a schedule to start at 8:00am and end at 3:30pm while I was at school. And I think the one you were remembering was Telenet being used as a gateway to businesses. I remember connecting to the Barney ATM machines. I would use Radius because it was just so easy to get codes. I would have to trade like a 100 Radius codes to get one AT&T code that I would then use to swap for one of the latest cracks to put up on the BBS.
I just so happened to find my old notebook with pages of codes written in them. I also found that nice little sign you made me when you were at Gerber...

I dunno why I was thinking "T", but it was Radius that I was remembering. All those six digit codes. And I remember going to sleep with the modem tick-ticking the dial numbers because tone dialing didn't exist in Coventry back then...

We didn't have tone dialing either. What a pain it was calling those Rockville BBS numbers with all their 8s and 9s. Back then, I wanted to get my hands on one of those lineman's phone testers. Especially seeing them up on the pole and able to make calls...

It wouldn't surprise me in the least - probably written using the worst coding practices too. The simulation theory is starting to seem the most plausible. I've noticed lately that events in the Universe keep aligning. Now two perfect examples are 1) the mail truck was updated to a much more quieter one and now we don't know if the mail came so thought about making a little ESP32 device to send a text message whenever the mailbox lid is opened and 2) I was thinking about getting one of those skier exercise contraptions where you slide side-to-side over a raised arch.
Well, a few days after thinking about the mailbox project, a YouTube video appears in my feed on how to create a device using an ESP32 to detect when your mailbox lid is opened. Mailbox Notifier

Ohhh I can't tell you how many times that has happened and more frequently lately. And I just wonder if I happened to mention it out loud, or if my thoughts are just loud enough for my phone to hear me...
And I gotta give props to all of the modern makers out there. I dunno if I would have had the patience and skills to deal with SMT way back when...
