Of course they were happy. Who in their right mind wouldn't be happy with that?

So, are you suggesting coconuts migrate...?

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 12-09-2025

It's not a question of where he grips it, it's a simple question of weight ratios.  A five ounce bird could not carry a 1 pound coconut...

I need to add this movie to my Plex server and watch it again...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 12-10-2025

Same here. I just put Ferris Bueller's Day Off on the server.

As the horrendous Black Beast lunged forward, escape for Arthur and his knights seemed hopeless, when suddenly, the animator suffered a fatal heart attack...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 12-10-2025

Oh yes!  I've got that one on mine.  And I have recently added all of Mel Brook's movies to the server as well.  And then there are movies on my server that I have no plan or intention to watch, like Zootopia 2 and Wicked that were added by special request...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 12-10-2025

So far it's a limited collection of movies in my library. All of them were requested for our movie night, although we have two that I don't know if we'll get to because they're like 3 hours long and the family gets an attitude if the movie is more than 90 minutes. I mean, we've done the half one weekend, half the next...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 12-15-2025

I still have some of the "top 100" movies loaded on my server.  At one point I had a list of what some shmucks at AFI had determined were the top 100 movies as determined by a group of know-it-alls and I was determined to work my way backwards through that list.  The thing was, there were two lists, and one was an updated version so while I was going through the updated version, if I came across one that I had already seen I would replace it with one from the older list that I had not yet seen.  So kind of a combo-kill for both lists.

Needless to say, I didn't get very far before I gave up because some of the movies on the list were questionable as to why...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 12-16-2025

I look through the various lists of "top" movies and it always seems so pretentious. It feels like a bunch of Ascot tie wearing hoity doities sipping wine and snootily proclaiming some independent film with 2 lines of nonsense dialog and interpretive dance is the best movie of all time while snubbing their noses at Bill Murray in Stripes. If a movie might seem interesting, I'll watch the trailer and try to judge for myself...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 12-22-2025

Oh yeah, and that's the primary reason why I don't pay attention to "official" reviews.  Except the Rotten Tomatoes page for Stripes has "real" reviews higher than every day poor schlobs like you and me.  My guess is for this one, the poor schlobs that submitted reviews were Buffy and Biff, and not normal every day people...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 12-23-2025

What irks me a bit with some of the reviews is that there appears to be some underlying tone that movies are supposed to be teaching you some kind of lesson or moral value. Get outta here with that. A lot of movies, I just want to turn my brain off, enjoy it at face value and be entertained...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 12-24-2025

Ohhhh yes!!!!!  I hate modern movies that have one sole purpose of teaching a moral lesson, especially when that lesson is rooted in being PC.  Movies aren't so much entertainment anymore as they just tend to bash you over the head with those lessons.  Gone are the days of movies like Blazing Saddles, when the moral lessons were well hidden behind a bunch of non-pc humor...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 12-24-2025

It's funny how you mention movies being PC, I recently grabbed a few hours of Tex Avery Droopy cartoons and holy shit, I'm so glad I did. Younger me missed a lot of the hidden jokes as well as quite a few of the in-your-face ones that a naive little kid wouldn't understand. I've chuckled quite a bit watching them (while eating a bowl of coco puffs)...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 01-05-2026

Oh yes!!!  I recognized that aspect while watching Looney Tunes many years ago, (maybe the 90's??) and realized how many jokes I missed when I first watched them as a kid.  It was a revelation and newfound appreciation for all of those old animated shorts.  I doubt I was eating Cocoa Puffs at the time, it might have been Fruit Loops or Apple Jacks, though.  (or maybe the old version of Captain Crunch before they ruined it and removed the 80 grit sand from the recipe...)

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 01-06-2026

Watching cartoons as an adult is much different now. Still love them, but I that new found perspective is something else. Like as a kid and watching Tom & Jerry, Tom was the jerk. As an adult, I realize that Jerry was the jerk (about 90% of the time). Now another show I've been watching is the Twilight Zone. And again, it hits a bit different as an adult. And I stopped liking Cap'n Crunch a long time ago and I wasn't able to put my finger on why until you mentioned the 80 grit sand. Yeah, it doesn't crunch the same. It just about falls apart to mush when eating it...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Kruger - 01-06-2026

You know, Cap'n Crunch is still ok, at least from a "snack" perspective.  Most cereals are like that now.  Just grab a bowl of cereal, no milk, and snack on it at the desk while you're working...  Though bigger cereals like Frosted Mini Wheats are certainly a lot easier to snack on over ones like Fruity Pebbles.  But you need to still temper your expectations that they're going to taste the same as they do in your memory...

RE: Uncle DT's Random Image Thread - Blaze - 01-07-2026

The kids like to eat dry cereal as a snack. I've tried, but I'm a traditionalist and need my bowl of milk. I've noticed a while back that the cereals I grew up with have changed their recipe/formula and not for the better - they're bland and have weird textures. I've been finding the generic brands are better tasting than what I remember the classic cereals tasting like as a kid. Especially the generic Fruity Pebbles -> Malt-O-Meal Fruity Dino Bites...
